A Dream, Reimagined: Graduating from Medical School During a Global Pandemic

Image-2.jpeg

Medical school is tough. A lot of time, a lot of studying, and a lot of money.

What’s really tough is celebrating graduation in my backyard, not surrounded by close friends and family; not celebrating with my classmates as we each walk across the stage, introducing ourselves and our new profession for the first time.

Although, when thinking about it, it’s not about the size of the party — it’s about the fact that as of today, I’m finally done with 20 years of school and have accomplished my biggest life goal to date.

It’s about me, and everyone else behind me: my incredibly supportive parents, an immensely encouraging sister, one hell of a boyfriend, and the absolute most wonderful friends a girl can have.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now I get to go be the woman I’ve always dreamed of being, amidst a global pandemic. I suppose I’ll call that job security.

Time to go to be a doctor.
